Saturday Dinner with them (4:23 - 6:44) at the table to my right, commenting on the indelicacy of truffles coming across in the otherwise subtle and rich taste of their meal (gosh). While we discussed the past glories of 24 and its subtleties, which to me presumably made it so popular, he mentioned passingly he does not watch television.

thrilling.

It is a small restaurant, characteristic that lends itself perfectly to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations. Rude maybe, but very amusing. B and I kept on nudging each other and smiling every time a mouthful was described with adjectives generally found in chick lit.

As for Mike Leigh, well, I’ve only just started my education; and though B’s dad said he’s horribly depressing, ‘High Hopes’ has given me just that for the rest of his oevure *wink*. I guess it’s more appealing because I have met people from most areas of the English socio-economic spectrum and in watching this kind of film, every one of those people becomes a caricature, turning most conversations into a surreal experience worthy of a good, chesty and shaking laugh.
